  • Mountain ranges offer such a sense of turbulent calm. En route up the Moosilauke Carriage Road, the mountains unfurl like waves: Presidentials, Franconia Ridge, and what I think might be Weetamoo. The shoulder of Moosilauke slopes left up and out of the frame like a tsunami.

  • Taken still in late-winter, during an early foray into summer weather. The last of the ice was just barely hanging on, a surreal addition to a lovely evening. Plymouth, NH.
  • This photo certainly puts the "red" into Red HIll. Pre-iced-over Squam in early December.
  • Though you may not think a beach is a beach without sand...this view simply makes me think of cool ocean breezes and the sound of waves.
  • Spring beauty on Perch Pond, and the treat of a completely calm, foggy morning. The pond was mostly free of ice, but the contrast between opaque frozen and startlingly clear liquid water was so, so good.<br /> <br /> I stayed for almost an hour, watching the fog roll in and out, listening to a pair of ravens cavort over the hills, and trying (unsuccessfully) to sneak up on a common merganser, only to have it slip deftly under the ice.<br /> <br /> Life couldn't be better on a morning like this.
