Spring beauty on Perch Pond, and the treat of a completely calm, foggy morning. The pond was mostly free of ice, but the contrast between opaque frozen and startlingly clear liquid water was so, so good.
I stayed for almost an hour, watching the fog roll in and out, listening to a pair of ravens cavort over the hills, and trying (unsuccessfully) to sneak up on a common merganser, only to have it slip deftly under the ice.
Life couldn't be better on a morning like this.
