The seasons march onward at the base of Mount Liberty, at the southern end of Franconia Notch, and the mountains begin to wear their winter caps.
Mid July morning on the summit of Mt. Washington. The fog was flowing through the valleys like a frothy river, but once you broke through, the world was endless and blue and coral. It's like peeling the layers from an onion.
Up close and personal with a Meadowhawk dragonfly in Hancock, NH. She stayed still just long enough for me to get this shot, then danced tantalizingly, just out of reach. Dragonflies are amazing eating machines. Their delicate looking wings conceal a strong ability for agile flight; their compound eyes allow them to see prey in all directions; and their mouthparts...don't even get me started. Freakin' cool.
